Partakers of the Divine Nature

 

◎ 2 Peter 1:3~4

3  God’s divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,

4  by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

 

◎ What is the purpose of our life?

▷ To become partakers of divine nature

 

▷ To recover the Image of God

Genesis 1:27, So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

 

▷ To reborn to a new life

2 Corinthians 5:17, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

 

▷ To recreated through divine adoption

Galatians 4:4~5, But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

 

☞ These are our calling, the purpose of life. So we call these other words, sanctification, perfection, or deification.

 

◎ How is it possible for us to make this a reality?

 

▷ God’s sanctifying and deifying grace is actualized in the means of grace.(1 Timothy 4:5)

 

▷ It is fulfilled and completed with our faith and love.(Galatians 5:6)
