God the Son(1)

 

 

◎ Q. Who is God the Son?

A. The second person of the Trinity, through whom all creation has come into being. The Son is the only perfect image of the Father, and he shows us the nature of God.

☞ “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:1-3)

☞ “The god of this age has blinded the minds of those who don’t have faith so they couldn’t see the light of the gospel that reveals Christ’s glory. Christ is the image of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:4)

 

◎ Q. What is the nature of God revealed in Jesus?

A. God is love. (1 John 4:8)

☞ “The person who doesn’t love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:8)

 

◎ Q. Why did Jesus take our human nature?

A. The divine Son became human so that in him human beings might be adopted as children of God, and be made heirs of God’s kingdom.

☞ “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” (Galatians 4:4-5)

☞ “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:13-14)

 

◎ Q. What is the relationship between Jesus’ divinity and his humanity?

A. Jesus is fully divine and fully human.

☞ “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.” (Colossians 1:15)

☞ “For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.” (Colossians 2:9)
