    BIBLE STUDY 6

    Holy Spirit(1)

    Reading Ephesians 3:14~19(ESV)

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,

15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,

16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,

19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Theme All believers must be strong in their inner beings.

What is it to be justified? Justification is to be pardoned and received into God’s favour.

We are forgiven by believing in Jesus Christ. That doesn't mean our inner beings will change.

What is it to be sanctified? Sanctification is to be renewed in the image of God, in righteousness and true holiness(Eph. 4:24).

Problem There are still many believes who value our outer beings.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.(2 Cor. 4:16)

What are our outer beings? Appearance, possession, honor...

Message We must be filled with the Holy Spirit.

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.(Acts 1:8)

Greek, δυναμις - power, influence, dynamic

Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”(Acts 2:38)

We are to work with power of God, to do so, first we must receive the Holy Spirit.(Eph. 3:16)

For we to receive the Holy Spirit, first we must receive the Lord.(John 1:12)

And we are to receive the Lord, we must first repent.(Mark 1:15)
