God’s Calling

 

◎ Two Kinds of Calling

☞ We can think of two kinds about God’s calling.

    One is God’s calling for the purpose of human creation.

    In other words, we are called by God to participate in God’s love.

    The other is God’s calling to our new life in Christ.

    That is called by God to share that divine love.

 

◎ Divine Calling

1) Genesis 1:27

God created human beings in his image.

In the image of God he created them.

He created them male and female.

☞ The image refers to the God-given commission

to image God on earth, that is, to be agents who

represent and realize God’s benevolent and peaceful

sway on earth.(Bernhard Anderson)

 

2) Leviticus 19:2

Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel

and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the Lord

your God am holy.

☞ May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely,

and may your whole spirit and soul and body

be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(1 Thessalonians 5:23)

☞ As God who called you is holy, you also be holy

in all your conduct.(1 Peter 1:15)

 

◎ Calling as a disciple

1) Acts 20:24

I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself,

if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received

from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

☞ A witness of the gospel of Christ

 

2) 1 Thessalonians 1:7

So that you became an example to all the believers

in Macedonia and in Achaia.

☞ A model believer who has right faith
